3-Minute Mile - Part 8

Welcome to the 3-Minute Mile

A 3-minute mile does not exist in the natural running world,

because no one has ever been able to run that fast.

But, in your spiritual run – you can be transported quickly.

REPOTTED

Oh, my! I did not even think the seeds I planted would grow. My reasoning came through the experience of crop failure years ago. This time, planting seeds was my husband's idea, and I decided it might be fun doing it together. We were operating on his faith. Well, I learned some things in the process that I knew before but failed to practice.

I had some seeds I had saved from my plants last year and some packets of seeds. Also, my husband had me order wildflower seeds. We got the pots ready. The wildflower planting was challenging because it included a mix of other things, making it hard to plant individual seeds. So, we put the mixture into the pots, without regard to spacing. We were thrilled when they sprouted, and we watched them grow tall, thin, and spindly. When I did get ready to transplant them, they were so close together that the dirt fell off the roots. What that exposed was a lack of a sound root system. But, I replanted them and shored them up with soil – not knowing if it would be successful or not.

In the pots where I had planted the individual seeds from seed packs and my own saved seeds, I found a better root system, and they were a tad heartier because of better spacing. Like my husband said, "It's an experiment." I had two pots where nothing came up. I believe the seeds in the seed packs were too old. A little six-pack pot netted just a couple of plants and no forget-me-nots for me. Zinnias from seeds saved looked better. The sunflowers needed to toughen up, or they would fail. There is not one plant that looks great. I said, "We'll see!"

Sometime later, it was apparent that our valiant efforts were mostly to no avail – except for the zinnias. However, Steve readied two areas next to our driveway, and we sowed wildflower seeds there. The ground was not great, and we didn't always water them regularly; however, the crop was outstanding. There are so many different plants and a variety of colors. It is such a happy place that greets us when we go to the cars or walk past them to the mailbox. What joy we have had in this experiment. The pot-planting failed for the wildflowers, but planting the seed mixture straight in the ground brought success. We have had such fun. We call it Steve's garden, and he is thrilled.

We are like the seed in our spiritual life. We need just the right conditions to grow. If we are not careful, we will not flourish spiritually due to the unsatisfactory conditions around us. We need to be fed, watered, tended. We need Jesus to thrive.

Psalm 92:12 (AMP)

The righteous will flourish like the date palm [long-lived, upright and useful]; they will grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic and stable].

A PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord God Jehovah, I ask that you bless this reader to flourish with long life, righteousness, and purpose. Let them be Your expression in the Earth as a testament to Your love, mercy, and grace. May Your glory be upon them for all to see and know that You are their God. In Jesus' name. Amen

THE POWER OF RAIN

From the morning dew to the downpour in sheets, the rain comes to bless us with many things. The lack thereof can be devastating. So, we love the Spring rains that encourage new growth. As the plants peek up from the winter dormancy, we thrill at the prospect of what we know will bring us the beautiful colors and fill in the spaces without any expression.

There is nothing like rainwater – its nutrients and a good soaking fills in all the dry places thirsting for the hydration necessary for life. The power of the rain creates a callout for the sun to compliment the whole process.

It is the same with our spiritual life. Jesus must complement the process, and our faith in Him feeds it all. We need to grow. We need living water from the throne of grace – not just a little; we need a soaking.

John 7:38 (AMP)

38 He who believes in Me [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Me], as the Scripture has said, 'From his innermost being will flow continually rivers of living water.'"

A PRAYER FOR YOU TO PRAY:

I come in the name of Christ Jesus, My Lord, to You – my faithful God. Send Your living water to fill me to overflowing so that I may grow in the knowledge of You and bring Your beauty to the world around me. I am thirsting for You. I long for You. Thank You for Your love and grace that never lets me down. Amen.

THE WHEELBARROW STANDS READY

There it is again after a hard day's work – parked for another time's use. It seems a favorite parking place is right in front of the shed. It is a statement that perhaps we will need it quickly. Positioned – it is ready for service at a moment's notice.

There are times when it is empty, and others when it is overflowing. With that one wheel, it is ready to roll out. It has such a variety of contents – weeds, tree limbs, spent flowers, pots, and on occasion, a child who needs a ride and some fun.

There are more times when it is put away in the shed. But, the trusty tool is ready to roll out when needed.

As Jesus' modern-day disciples, we need to be like the trusty wheelbarrow – ready to roll out at a moment's notice when He needs us. Whether it is His call to duty, our time to transition to Heaven, or the end-times, we must position ourselves to be ready.

Luke 12:35-38 (AMP)

35 [Jesus said to His disciples] "Be dressed and ready for active service, and keep your lamps continuously burning. 36 Be like men who are waiting for their master when he returns from the wedding feast, so that when he comes and knocks they may immediately open the door for him. 37 Blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) are those servants whom the master finds awake and watching when he arrives. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, he will prepare himself to serve, and will have them recline at the table, and will come and wait on them. 38 Whether he comes in the second watch (before midnight), or even in the third (after midnight), and finds them so [prepared and ready], blessed are those servants.

A PRAYER FOR YOU TO PRAY:

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for your grace to be ready when needed. I know You have tasks for me to do, and I place myself for easy access. The variety of what You have planned is exciting, and I am looking forward to each day and eternity with You. You have created me to have an abundant life and designed me well. Thank You for using me for Your glory. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen

We had to cut down the spent flowers to expose the path. As I looked at my late Spring garden, I remembered the process. First, it was dormant for the Winter. As the rains came and the warmer weather, the sun hit the patch beside the house, and it began to awaken.

Right on time, the hyacinths emerged – first as nothing but leaves, and then the stems came, followed by the showy purple flowers.

I could hardly stand the excitement while I waited for my grandmother's, mother's, and now my bleeding heart plant to emerge from the ground. It seemed like an eternity that might never happen, but I had the faith that once again, it would not fail me. I was right. When the conditions were perfect, in a short amount of time, it emerged through the ground. It daily grew until it was again a massive plant with a smaller one in front of it. It made no apology of its splendor when the beautiful heart-shaped blooms popped out all over it. Top to bottom, it was glorious – a sight to behold.

The path that passes by it had been unimpeded until it took over and covered most of it. No longer could you walk easily on the little trail, for the bleeding heart had made its presence seen and known.

So, there was no problem putting a big coreopsis potted plant on the end of the path. The path was now blocked. There was parking in the moment of a few weeks that caused us to stay and enjoy. We could walk past the spiderwort plants and turn and look at the fish in the pond. They were enjoying the warmer weather. Their hibernation time was over, and they were spawning and running and jumping merrily. They were eating again. Their forced fast was over, and they celebrated twice a day when they sensed us cross the deck – or maybe it was the vibration our feet made. It was a glorious dead-end path with tremendous rewards.

Then the usual happened. The spiderworts were growing again between the patio blocks and trying to fill in vacant spaces. It was no longer visually pleasant. So, we went to work eventually to remove them. Those roots are hard to reach, as some emerged again. Not in the right place, they become annoying and a detriment to walking on the path. Last year we pulled them out from around the pond because they had taken over. Tall and not so glorious they were for us. The little purple blooms close up when it is too hot, cold, and at night. So, as you can imagine, they are not open a lot. As they grow tall and lanky, the plants fall over – also not so appealing. So, what was once a joy, became overwhelming. We did not completely get rid of them, leaving some along the path.

Just when these plants were at their best, I began to see the telltale yellow leaves signaling the bleeding heart was on its way out. Sure enough, in a few short days, it no longer was the specimen that it was before. True to my character, I left off pruning it back even too long. As I began the process and cut the dead branches back, soon, nothing much left. But – the path was now unimpeded. We staked the spiderworts next to it this time – the first time. They stood up straight and back off the path, leaving lots of room to walk by them.

The coreopsis was moved beside the path and into the flowerbed. Still beautiful, it did not lose its place.

So now, the path was free after a glorious Spring season that caused us to stop and reflect the past, present, and future.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (AMP)

There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven—

2 A time to be born and a time to die;

A time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.

3 A time to kill and a time to heal;

A time to tear down and a time to build up.

4 A time to weep and a time to laugh;

A time to mourn and a time to dance.

5 A time to throw away stones and a time to gather stones;

A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.

6 A time to search and a time to give up as lost;

A time to keep and a time to throw away.

7 A time to tear apart and a time to sew together;

A time to keep silent and a time to speak.

8A time to love and a time to hate;

A time for war and a time for peace.

There is a season for everything in the garden. There is a season for everything in our natural and spiritual lives. As the cycles come and go, we see patterns that require faith and action. It is in our best interest to listen to the still small voice of the Lord and follow His commands closely.

A PRAYER FOR YOU TO PRAY:

I come to You, Father, and submit to you and the seasons of my life. I desire to walk in faith and to stop and observe to get clear direction as to how to proceed. Anoint my eyes to see the beauty all around me. Show me anything that needs to be changed, rearranged, or removed. In Jesus Name, I pray. Amen

I was picking dead blossoms off of the geraniums and petunias. They were not very pretty – these dead ones. When removed, the plants looked so much better than with them hanging on without hope. I have found that the front porch is a mess of detached blossoms if I do not remove them. I hesitate to trim off the half-spent ones – but the fact of the matter is that it is much more pleasant looking when I do. The pruning encourages new growth, too.

Jesus is the Vine, and we are the branches. "Come grow with Me," Jesus says in one of the songs that I wrote. We need pruning to grow fuller and more beautiful.

John 15:2 (AMP)

2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that continues to bear fruit, He [repeatedly] prunes, so that it will bear more fruit [even richer and finer fruit].

PRAYER FOR YOU:

Father God, I come in the name of my Redeemer Christ Jesus, asking You today to tend to this reader like the gardener who can prune and clean up anything grown to fulfillment in their life. Thank You that when You do this, they will continue to grow with more fabulous fruit. Bless them with Your love as You make them beautiful and help them thrive. Place in their heart a desire for your tending. Hold them close as you adjust. Let them trust You to know what is best for them in this hour. Amen

Sometimes before you get ready to run, you must get a different perspective. I told my husband to bring the two blue Adirondack chairs to the other side of the pond in our backyard. Although I had asked him to do that many times, this time, he obliged.

I sat in the sun on one of them this morning in the new location in the yard because the deck was shaded and too cold. As I looked from this unique point of view, I began to see ways to rearrange the flowers differently. I had thought about it before, but now I was getting some new solutions. I could put a plant up on a crate to elevate it as a focal point. Well, that was a victory like the 3-minute mile. Quickly the solution came. I thought that when I get up (if I do not get distracted), I will put my plan into action, it will take less than a minute, and change will happen.

Here is the result:

Have you ever had a relationship problem, and in one fell swoop, God took care of the enemy’s evil plans and gave you a breakthrough? Perhaps it came with an encounter or a prophetic gift idea that – when instituted – melted your stony heart and changed the other person’s heart as well?

Ezekiel 11:19-20 (AMP)

19 And I will give them one heart [a new heart], and put a new spirit within them. I will take from them the heart of stone, and will give them a heart of flesh [that is responsive to My touch], 20 that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they shall be My people, and I will be their God.

PRAYER FOR YOU TO PRAY:

I come to You, Father God, in the name of Christ Jesus, my Lord. I thank You for all of the times that You have healed relationships for me. Continue to give me new perspectives and strategies that will glorify You and benefit my heart. Thank You for giving my heart a jump start, and for making it pliable and in good stead with Your Word. Let me enjoy the peace that comes as I follow You and walk in love toward others. I trust You to heal what needs healing and give me new opportunities and creative ideas – not out of my imagination, but out of Holy Spirit’s prompting. I thank You ahead of time for Your loving care of my heart. Amen

I praise God for you and would love to hear your testimonies. Enjoy your day, and believe that God’s conviction always comes with love – not overwhelming fear or dread. Your yielding to Him will result in a joyful heart.

Blessings always,

Welcome to the 3-Minute Mile – Part 2

But, in your spiritual run – you can be transported quickly.

God designed YOU to run the good race.

Joshua 2:9 (AMP)

9 and she [Rahab] said to the men, “I know that the Lord has given you the land, and that the terror and dread of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land have melted [in despair] because of you.

In Jericho, Rahab hid God’s sons of Israel, who had come to spy out the land in her house. The people heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for them when they came out of Egypt and how they destroyed the two kings of the Amorites. Rahab let the spies down by a rope, which later became a sign that protected her family. Joshua recognized God’s protection during this strategic mission.

We see terror and dread across the globe today. In fear, many are joining the panic-driven herd. But, the scarlet cord of redemption weaves all through God’s plan – even today. We may not know all of the whys, but we know that God’s saving grace is there for all.

Joshua and Caleb went to spy out the land and found that there was a fear of the Lord there. Could it be today, too, that some have a fear of the Lord without knowing that God’s saving grace is for them? However, the embattlements and boundaries continue to form, but the steadfast love of the Lord endures forever. (Isaiah 54:17, Psalm 136:1)

I encourage you to be an agent of love who can reason with others and offer some godly solutions to those in fear.

A PRAYER FOR YOU:

I come in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, with thanksgiving and praise for the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Continue to shore up with greater empowerment this believer for the sake of Kingdom building. All fear go, and trust in God Almighty flourish. Let each day be an adventure worthy of one who is called by God to do great exploits. Amen

3-Minute Mile Intro

Welcome to the 3-Minute Mile Blog.

A 3-minute mile does not exist in the natural running world.

No one has ever been able to run that fast.

But, in your spiritual run – you can be transported quickly.

ADVENTURES IN PRAYER

TIMELY VISION FOR THE FUTURE

QUICK SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS

God can do it through YOU!

He needs YOU!

God designed YOU to run the good race.

Explore with me some scriptures about the race:

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (AMP)

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run [their very best to win], but only one receives the prize? Run [your race] in such a way that you may seize the prize and make it yours! 25 Now every athlete who [goes into training and] competes in the games is disciplined and exercises self-control in all things. They do it to win a crown that withers, but we [do it to receive] an imperishable [crown that cannot wither]. 26 Therefore I do not run without a definite goal; I do not flail around like one beating the air [just shadow boxing]. 27 But [like a boxer] I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached [the gospel] to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified [as unfit for service].

2 Thessalonians 3:1

1 Finally, brothers and sisters, pray continually for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be honored [triumphantly celebrated and glorified], just as it was with you; 2 and [pray] that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not everyone has the faith.

James 1:19-20

19 Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; 20 for the [resentful, deep-seated] anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God [that standard of behavior which He requires from us].

James 4:6

6 But He gives us more and more grace [through the power of the Holy Spirit to defy sin and live an obedient life that reflects both our faith and our gratitude for our salvation]. Therefore, it says, “God is opposed to the proud and haughty, but [continually] gives [the gift of] grace to the humble [who turn away from self-righteousness].”

John 6:19

19 Then, when they had rowed three or four miles [and were near the center of the sea], they saw Jesus walking on the sea and approaching the boat; and they were [terribly] frightened.

The disciples saw Jesus walking on the sea. They were three or four miles from shore. Not just a hop, skip, and a jump.

Bill Connelly quote – “Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. Who cares after that – you’ve got his shoes, and he’s a mile away.” It is an ugly statement. So sad.

I may not be able to tell you anything, but maybe I can get you thinking about your perspectives, experiences, and motivations. I desire to point you to the ways of Jesus so that you can have an abundant life.

A PRAYER FOR YOU:

Father, I come in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth on behalf of this reader. Help them to train well, to run swiftly, to glorify You by spreading the Good News, to have a high standard of behavior, and to practice a humble walk of grace. Thank You for Your blessings! Amen

Now, enjoy your day and watch God move in your life.

Remember that it’s an adventure that you are walking into daily.

Encouraging Leaders

Posted on March 27, 2020 at 5:57 PM Comments comments (201)
I want to encourage Leaders in ministry and business in this season!  Jehovah God is calling all of us to come close to Him for direction that the world cannot give.

God is calling (through the wooing of the Holy Spirit) those leaders who have not received Christ as their personal Savior to make a commitment of faith.  He’s also calling Christ- followers to recommit their lives and go deeper and wider in their faith.

If we are excited about our relationship with God through Christ, what we share will be contagious, because there will be an anointing on us.  There is a need to bring hope to the lost!  Many need to be made aware of the void in their lives — JESUS!

Precious Holy Spirit wants to comfort, teach, and guide . . . so that our plans are in line with the Word of God and the plan and purpose that He has ordained to be on our lives.

We must be bearers of Good News so that we will have a platform on which to stand that includes God’s promises to His people.  We have to be “salty” so that others thirst for The Living God.  We must be “hungry” to adopt the Word of God with an unwavering trust that causes others to want to be fed.  We must be a good example to those we lead.

Our God has made many promises to His believers.  We must stand firm in Christ and believe that He has our very best interests at heart.  Dying to self is absolutely necessary.  Calling upon the name of the Lord in every circumstance shows Him just how committed we are to following His leading.  He wants the two-way communion that will take us from glory to glory in His care.  He cares about every little detail of our lives.

So, as a Leader, continue to spend quality time worshiping, praying, studying the Word of God, and listening for what He has to say to you!

2 Corinthians 1:20-22 (NIV) — For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.  Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Fresh Cool Water

Posted on March 31, 2019 at 4:55 PM Comments comments (229)
Could you use a fresh drink of cool water?  God is always ready to refresh you and renew your spirit.  He has a way of knowing just what we need.  It is important that we open ourselves up to His presence and give Him permission to fill us up.

It is very simple, you know.  Keep practicing good communication skills by continuing to pray, read His Word, and enjoy fellowship with other strong Christians — those who know how to get a prayer through to the throne so that you see tangible results.  And, we need those who truly hear from God and are able to be obedient to what He asks.  We are not looking for the ones who cannot get along with others, but those who are walking and talking the love of The Father.

I want to challenge you to press into the “more” of God for your life.  I know that you won't be sorry!!!
